The 3,000 square metre property located on High Street in Swansea has been transformed into a modern, energy saving office facility, suitable for businesses in the creative industries.
Bbi created a flexible, office working environment and reception area. The company also worked closely with the Coastal team to develop an indoor, countryside theme, designed to create a sense of calm and open space in a busy working environment. This theme is resonated through artificial grass trees and flower beds, and even a sheep to add a light-hearted touch. The eco-friendly scheme also employed a heat recovery system and LED lighting.
The £1.6 million ($2.4 million) project, which forms part of the Urban Village’s Creative Hub, has already received the Large Commercial Office Fit Out category as part of Swansea Council’s Building Excellence Award. The project will now compete against 12 other local authorities at the South Wales regional Building Excellence Awards in April 2013.
The £30 million ($45 million) Urban Village’s Creative Hub will be the first office environment in Wales to be created specifically for commercial creative businesses.
