Blacksheep unveils Jamie Oliver’s Union Jacks restaurant
Published: 25-Jan-2012
London-based design agency Blacksheep has revealed Jamie Oliver’s new restaurant concept Union Jacks in Central St Giles, London, UK.
The facility is located in the Lego building designed by architect Renzo Piano. A graphic mix hued neon with Union Jacks sign has been placed above a large vintage cinema style board located above the bar and work station. The new restaurant features a canvas of three internal walls encompassing a central lift shaft. The walls serve as a backdrop to the working zones and contains wood-fired ovens.
The facility sports shades of muted blue, brown, grey and pink with primary brights. The building imbibes various objects collected by Jamie during his tours. The teapots on the cafe tables situated outside feature knitted 1970’s style tea cosies. The counter tables, and stools have been printed with graph paper. The look is complemented by wash-top wooden tables and chairs comprising basic metal frames which adorn various other areas of the building.
The lower ground level of the restaurant has been equipped with tables in booth settings. The facility's kitchen imbibes antique TV screens. The screens are connected to cameras to offer the diners a glimpse of the chefs in action. The walls of the building feature bold graphics.
