Butler & Willow converts Bedford office into alcohol rehabilitation centre

Published: 04-Jan-2013

UK-based workplace design provider has converted a former Bedford office block into a drugs and alcohol rehabilitation centre, which will provide a range of drug, alcohol and other services for drug abusers and the homeless.

The old office building in a run-down condition with water leaks, rising damp and damaged plaster walls has been converted into an alcohol rehabilitation centre at a cost of £180,000 ($293,155).

The conversion work includes the creation of counselling rooms by building partitions and the installation of suspended ceilings within the existing areas. The existing toilets and kitchens have been refurbished with clean functional facilities. In addition to that, to provide better accessible routes, existing doorways have been widened and fitted with new lintels and DDA-compliant doors.

The refurbishment also includes the installation of hot water system, a complete rewiring with updated lighting, and new floor coverings and decoration throughout the building.

To make the rehabilitation centre a better place to stay, the conversion work has also undertaken the repairing of the external drainage, replacement of the guttering, repairing of the damaged sills, and brickwork.
