Construction underway for new Rowley Arts Centre in Cambridgeshire
Construction is underway for a new cinema and restaurant complex, named as Rowley Arts Centre in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.
Designed to bring an exciting new feature to the town centre, the new £7 million ($10.50 million) development will be constructed on an old recycling centre and car park.
The arts centre, which would be spread over 32,000 square feet, will feature an 18,600 square feet six-screen Cineworld cinema (capable also of hosting theatre productions) and four restaurants. Brands such as Frankie & Benny's, Pizza Express and Prezzo have already signed up.
For the reduced visual impact of the building on the neighbouring residents, the property will feature sunken plant housing on the roof which will hide air conditioning, ducting and trunking from the line of sight of their properties. The floors will be designed with latex self-levelling compound, which will create the desired finish on the cinema floor.
The scheme is being developed by Turnstone Estates and built by UK-based Britannia Construction. The project is scheduled to take 43 weeks and work will be complete by mid-September 2013.
