Coon Rapids City Council invites bids for Bunker Hills Golf Course project
The Coon Rapids City Council in Minnesota, US is inviting bids for the first phase of an expansion project at the city’s Bunker Hills Golf Course.
In early March 2013, the council approved plans and specifications for the site work that included grading, trails, landscaping and turf restoration and construction of a new driving range, practice green and short-game area.
The new driving range and practice green, along with relocating, creating and sodding four new tee boxes from their current locations on the course, are due to be completed by 1 June 2013, according to Tim Anderson, golf pro/manager. The short-game area as well as the new learning centre building will be completed by mid-July.
Herfort-Norby Golf Course Architects has completed the design work for the driving range, practice green and short-game area project, while Partners & Sirney Architects is finalising plans for the learning centre for which the city has partnered with GolfTEC Minnesota, according to Tim Himmer, city public works director.
The estimated cost of the project is between $835,000 and $965,000. The council approved the project financing by adding $800,000 to a general obligation bond issue. In January, the council also approved a lease agreement with GolfTEC Minnesota (GTMN Partners) to operate the new, 1,340 square feet golf instruction learning center at Bunker Hills.
Construction will begin once the contract is finalised.
