Coveleski Stadium to undergo overhaul
Published: 20-Jan-2012
The Coveleski Stadium in South Bend, Indiana, is set to embark on a major facelift.
The project involves expansion of the indoor suites along with creation of new outdoor suites. A beer garden located beyond the right field will be demolished to make way for installation of splash pads for kids as well as a changing room. Nearly six large inflatable bounce houses will also be constructed beyond the left field wall following the makeover.
The revamped stadium will feature make-shift fire places at the Cove with gas-fired heaters. An old synagogue positioned beyond right field will also be transformed to a team souvenir store post improvement works. Other refurbishment features include creation of a new commissary for food preparation, as well as upgrading the audio visual system of the facility at a budget of over $100,000.
The project will receive contributions of $2 million from the new Silver Hawks team owner Andrew T. Berlin with $1.75 million funding coming from the City of South Bend. Work is due for completion by 9 April 2012.
