Fullerton Community Centre to open in California

Published: 05-Oct-2012

The new Fullerton Community Centre, designed by Robert R. Coffee Architects + Associates in collaboration with Swinerton Builders and Griffin Structures, will open in the city of Fullerton, California.

Located within the existing Amerige Park, the new 59,000 square feet Fullerton Community Center combines the Fullerton Boys and Girls Club, the Fullerton Senior Center, and the community recreational services programs into a single facility.

Reflecting the rich cultural history of the Fullerton's architecture, the design of the new building has utilised decorative concrete block, coloured porcelain tiles, and plaster and aluminum louvered sunscreens.

The facility is divided into three wings, with one for each major activity area. It also features an outdoor activity courtyard which opens to the surrounding park. Primary spaces include a double gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool, and a multi-purpose main event room. This space features a full kitchen, arts and crafts rooms, and meeting rooms. To make the residents computer-savvy, the facility also features two computer technology teaching centres, one for adults and one for young children.

The new Fullerton Community Center is scheduled to open on 6 October 2012.
