Husson University in US to embark on $15 million new construction project

Published: 02-Feb-2011

Husson University’s $15 million new construction project, which involves a five-storey addition, has been approved by the Husson University Board of Trustees in Bangor, Maine.

The project involves construction of a five-storey multi-purpose building featuring experiential learning spaces, classrooms, faculty offices and suite-style living space for 240 students. The five-storey project estimated to cost more than $11 million is scheduled for completion in August of 2012.

The new multi-purpose building addition will be designed to accommodate College of Business, which can conduct simulated board meetings and web-based team analysis. Students in the School of Legal studies can use the experiential learning spaces to investigate mock crime scene scenarios which will be integrated across academic programmes.

The university is also planning for a major renovation and expansion of the Dickerman Dining Commons. This $3 plus million dollar project is scheduled for completion in August of 2011.

The Dickerman Dining Commons project will include 10,000 square feet expansion. A completely new kitchen and service area and a total renovation of the dining area including food stations, new seating and incorporating a tray-less flexible service style are also under the project’s purview.

The Winton Scott Architects of Portland will be the architect and Allied Cook of Scarborough will be the contractor for the project. The University is also working with Fore Solutions to provide the energy and environmental systems for this LEED-Silver certified design- build project.
