Icon 53m superyacht by Hot Lab to be displayed at Monaco Yacht Show
Published: 30-Aug-2010
The new 53m yacht designed by Italian studio Hot Lab Yacht & Design for Dutch luxury yacht builder Icon Yachts will be presented at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2010.
The exterior and interior styling of the new Icon 53m superyacht was done by Hot Lab. Icon Yachts and UK-based yacht design firm Redman Whitley Dixon have formulated a 53m five-deck design founded on the repeat success of the Icon 62m concept. Having received positive feedback about the tender garage and anchor handling space, Icon has decided to include a similar setup in the 53m platform.
The interior of the yacht displays palatial and modern luxury incorporating materials layered in platinum white, setting a contrast with the black furnishings and embellishments around the yacht’s design.
The luxury decks feature full height glass drenching the interiors with natural light. A unique full beam owners’ suite is located on the main deck. Typical of Icon Yachts’ previous designs, the 53m yacht features a lavish deep beach club with full transom swim platform and 295 square metre of fully customizable interior spaces.
The general arrangement of the 53m superyacht design features an all open sun deck with alfresco dining under the shading hardtop, large size Jacuzzi served by a full bar and a large forward entertaining area, which provides the platform for relaxation and luxury outdoor life style.
The Icon 53m yacht will be offered with either a full beam owner’s suite or two VIP cabins on the main deck with the added space for eight guests in four double suites and ample space for ten crew members.
The technical platform boasts an intricate design, which makes the yacht look futuristic and sturdy. The yacht will offer 710 GT volume, built with a steel hull and uses marine grade aluminium for the superstructure with other features, such as Antenna mast and large doors made from a lightweight high strength composite.
Naval Architect for Icon, Jouke Van De Baan, worked with the exterior and interior design styles of Hot Lab Yacht & Design to create a yacht concept in compliance with Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) Large Yacht Code.
The new yacht has been engineered to reach around 15 knots and to a range of 4000nm using powerful, ultra efficient low emission twin MTU four stroke, 10-cylinder V marine diesel engines.
Icon Yachts director Jen Wartena and Stephan Vitus, responsible for new project development will be on hand at the 2010 Monaco Yacht Show to display the 53m technical platform design. The 2010 Monaco Yacht Show will be held from September 22-25, 2010 at Port Hercules in Monaco.
