KPS Group, the architect for the renovation project, showed the members of the Birmingham Airport Authority, a variety of materials to be used in the $193.3 million terminal renovation. The design firm has mainly chosen neutral colours for the airport, so that the look of the airport will not become outdated quickly.

The facility will feature Terrazzo floor, a faux marble material installed without seams, to enable a smoother ride for travellers. Some of the board members suggested more colour and vibrancy to the design.

The terminal overhaul project is slated to commence in early 2011.
