Kraus-Anderson begins work on Southdale Centre facelift

Kraus-Anderson Construction Company has commenced work on the makeover of the Southdale Centre shopping mall in Edina, Minnesota.

The design of the building will be led by Baltimore-based JP2 Architects. The entire facility spans over an area of 1.8 million square feet out of which 239,378 square feet of space will be overhauled. The mall will comprise a new concourse in its J.C. Penney wing, and new entryways following the facelift.

The remodelled building will be equipped with new elevators, stair cores as well as general mall finishes. In addition, the food court located on the third storey of the building will be shifted to its second level as part of the project.

Work is due for completion by December 2012.
