Lords Cricket ground employs Plastic Surgeon’s finishes

Published: 01-Mar-2013

The Lords Cricket ground in the UK has utilised products and services from surface repair specialist Plastic Surgeon as part of a £3 million ($4.5 million) refurbishment project.

Plastic Surgeon’s London team repaired the surfaces in the Media Centre at Lords Cricket ground which have, over time, become damaged as a result of the wear and tear.

There are four rows of 30 or so desks in the Media Centre at Lords which look like timber but are in fact laminate and have a hollow construction. As a result of the journalists banging microphones down on the edge of the desks, or knocking them with other objects, there was a lot of surface damage including scratches, chips and holes that needed restoring.

Plastic Surgeon’s finishers spent the first day doing all the prep’ which included removing any residual loose debris, before packing out the spaces beneath the laminate and rebuilding the surface using its Ultra-Premium filler. They then carefully smoothed back the surface to get the exact profile.

The second day involved re-spraying all of the repaired areas with a special mix of its System 20. The team commented that the colour white is always very difficult to match, especially in a situation where a rolled edge is being treated where the angle that the artificial light or sunshine strikes it varies.
