Louis Poulsen debuts ‘AJ 50 Wall’ lamp

Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen Lighting has launched an outdoor wall lamp christened ‘AJ 50 Wall’ fitted with LED.

Louis Poulsen has unveiled the new AJ 50 Wall, as part of the 50th anniversary of the launch of the AJ lamp family. The new lamp is true to the design and lighting idea of Danish modernistic architect Arne Jacobsen, the designer behind the AJ wall light series.

The AJ lamp with an instantly recognisable silhouette is considered as one of the design icons of Arne Jacobsen. The AJ family is characterised by simple geometry delivered in a compact design, where the shape relates directly to the light distribution. Based on the design, one can make out the distribution of light.

The newly developed outdoor lamp by Louis Poulsen is based on the original and is designed to offer the same lighting qualities as the rest of the AJ family. One added advantage of the new version is that it is fitted with the highly topical and long-lasting LED light source. LED light sources light up immediately to full brightness, whereas most energy-saving light sources take a while to warm up. Besides, the LED light source is also suitable in areas with temperatures below freezing point as opposed to energy saving light sources where the light output drops at lower temperatures. The AJ 50 Wall, made from flow-formed aluminium, is fitted with 8W LED 3000 K.

The design of the AJ 50 Wall, according to the company, will add an extra design element to contemporary architecture. The aesthetic design of the lamp complements the architectural design and light distribution to leave a functional and decorative effect on the building and adjacent areas.

The surface is slightly textured, enabling it to better withstand challenging weather conditions and maintain its appearance. The wall lamp is powder coated and available in grey, white or black colours. The white-painted inner shade reflects and diffuses comfortable lighting. The AJ 50 Wall creates glare-free and widespread downlight, providing decorative light on the wall.
