McMillan Memorial Library to undergo renovation
Published: 23-Jan-2013
McMillan Memorial Library in Wisconsin Rapids, US is expected to undergo a facelift once the design by Minneapolis-based Meyer Scherer & Rockcastle is finalised.
The city Library Board had already approved basic improvements to the library earlier that are estimated to cost $155,500, excluding $46,260 for shelving as well as an additional $22,300 for a third large window in the room’s northeast corner. Other upgrades include revamped computer and story time areas and an outdoor garden for various children’s activities, such as those that are part of the summer reading program.
The city Library Board is currently examining additional plans which have been submitted by the architects. The board has already suggested few minor changes to the design, including simplifying the lighting system.
The renovations will be the first significant changes to the space since the library opened in 1970. Funding for the project will come from the library’s endowment fund as well as from pending contributions for several local charitable foundations.
The entire renovation project is expected to cost $250,000.
