NCC to build new harbour in Norway

Published: 12-Mar-2013

NCC, a construction and property development company, has been commissioned to construct a new ferry harbour and two new bridges in Larvik, Norway, which is valued to cost approximately SEK250 million ($38.96 million).

Part of the refurbishment of the ferry service between Larvik and Oppedal, the ferry harbour will be a central part of the refurbishment of the road.

The project comprises a new harbour area in Larvik, a new section of the E39 expressway near the beach area and a new bridge and intersection to public highway 607. In addition to that, the existing E39 through Larvik will also be repaired. This will involve building 1,8 kilometer of road, including 760 meters of new pedestrian and cycle paths. Parking spaces will also be built at the harbour area.

The project is part of the E39 expressway and the most important link between the north and south parts of Western Norway. It is scheduled for completion in August 2015.
