Penhaligons London emporium features design by Christopher Jenner

Published: 09-Jan-2013

British designer Christopher Jenner has created a revolutionary space for the perfume emporium Penhaligons at Regent Street in London.

According to Jenner, the interior design of the space is inspired by 'jaunty Edwardian eccentricity'. The design blends within the Beaux Arts style for which the street is famous.

The pattern, form and texture are derived from a synthesis of traditional English handicraft and high-tech manufacturing. The mix of classic and contemporary fuses classic Edwardian splendour with cutting-edge Japanese manga.

The work includes large padded walls, punctured by sticky chamfered light boxes. The ceiling roses inspired by Westminster Cathedral introduce a Tudor fretwork ceiling.

Handmade furniture in white oak, gloss and laser-cut solid brass has been used by the designer. These furniture items are then surrounded by a candy-stick maze table with bow stools, all of which, sit upon a bespoke encaustic cement tile floor.

The emporium is due to re-open on 21 January 2013.
