Ritz-Carlton to open world's tallest hotel in Hong Kong

US-based luxury hotel chain Ritz-Carlton will open world's tallest hotel in Hong Kong, China in 2010 which will occupy top 17 floors of the International Commerce Centre (ICC) in Kowloon, with its top floor on the 118th story.

ICC is Hong Kong's tallest building, standing tall at 484 meters. The ICC will be the third highest in the world in terms of the height of its roof. The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong is scheduled to open in December 2010.

The six-star hotel will feature 312 guest rooms that will offer panoramic views across Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island. The hotel will be modern in design and will attract visitors from all over the world for its world-class style, design, service and its landmark location.

The interior of the hotel will be designed by Singapore-based firm LTW and the architect for the project is New York architects KPF. The bars and restaurants in the hotel will be designed by Japan’s Spin Studio.

The facility will feature 50 square meter of Deluxe Harbour Room, and 365 square meter of Ritz-Carlton Suite. All rooms will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology including WiFi, iPod docking stations and flat screen TVs.

The hotel will feature six dining venues including state-of- the-art designer Chinese and Italian restaurants, and a lobby lounge. The alfresco rooftop bar will be located at 490 meters above sea level. Fire pits and casual seating at the roof terrace will create an atmosphere of stylish luxury.

The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong will feature one of the largest ballrooms in the city at 930 square meter. Four meeting rooms measuring 1,300 square meter of meeting space will also featured. The hotel also features a fully equipped fitness center and indoor pool on the 118th floor.

the ESPA located on the 116th floor will consist of 860 square meter of treatment rooms and relaxation areas. Featuring nine deluxe treatment rooms and three couples suites, every treatment room offers floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views.

Currently, the world's tallest hotels are the 333 meter, 72-floor Rose Hotel in Dubai, followed by the 330 meter, 105-floor Ryogyong Hotel in Pyongyang, North Korea and the 321-meter Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai.
