Skanska to construct new commercial complex in London

Published: 07-Mar-2013

Swedish construction company Skanska AB has won a £28 million ($42.36 million) contract to construct a 10-storied commercial building named as 100 Cheapside in London, designed by EPR Architects.

100 Cheapside will feature a new cladding system by EPR Architects which incorporates Portland Stone and pre-fabricated glass, fitted to a structural steel frame. Consisting of 12,562 square metre of total gross internal floor area, the building will include retail units at the ground level.

Upon completion, the building will be fitted out internally to the highest standard of category A. Aiming to achieve BREEAM Excellent and LEED Platinum ratings, the building will also incorporate various sustainable elements in its design.

It is scheduled to take 18 months to complete the project. The new building is being constructed by Skanska for its client, Ten Times Ten Development – a joint venture between Quadrant Estates and city of London.
