Soda Bottle Lamps wins Inhabitat Spring Greening Contest
Published: 14-Jun-2010
Lamps made from recycled soda bottles by the UK-based eco artist and designer Sarah Turner has won the Readers’ Choice Grand Prize at Inhabitat’s Spring Greening Contest.
Sarah Turner has created lamps from recycled soda bottles, offering an intricate and modern design. Collected from the local cafes and households, the bottles were sandblasted to make them solid after cleaning.
These lamps were transformed into interesting decorative elements through cuttings. These shades are attached to a recycled card base, secured with their own bottle top.
The soda bottle lamps received 3674 votes from the readers of Inhabitat. These lamps constitute Sarah’s 'Cola' range of eco lampshades, where Coca Cola bottles were reused to turn them into decorative lighting range.
Sarah has expanded the range by using Sprite bottles to offer lamps in different colors and Coca Cola bottles to provide different sizes.
