Soekarno–Hatta Airport in Indonesia gets funds for improvement

Soekarno–Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia has received funds from the government to undertake modernisation project to improve its efficiency.

Funds of an amount of IDR1 trillion ($111 million) has been allocated to upgrade the airport with improved technological equipment. The funds will also be used to merge air traffic control systems (ATCS) across the archipelago into one system. Navigational equipment, including a new air traffic control radar will also be procured.

The new ATCS will be designed to be more reliable and will be integrated with air traffic systems at airports in the eastern part of Indonesia. The ATCS of PT Angkasa Pura I and II will also be combined into one body from 1 January 2011, as mandated by the 2009 Law on Aviation.

The government will provide IDR150 billion ($16.5 million) of the total cost. The remainder of the money will come from state airport operator Angkasa Pura II and partners.
