St. Regis Hotel in San Francisco presents new lobby design

The hotel's iconic lobby was originally designed by the distinguished Yabu Pushelberg. Theresa Fatino was engaged to offer a refreshing take on the iconic design. The resulting space reflects an elegant minimalism with undertones of contemporary glamour.
The new design of the 4,660-square-foot lobby draws inspiration from the hotel’s neighbouring cultural institutions, such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and The Palace of Fine Arts, as well as landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge.
The new lobby design aims to complement the original interior architecture conceptualised by Yabu Pushelberg. Key focal elements, including the striking 16-foot fireplace, the zebra wood bar with glass pendant lighting and the renowned contemporary art collection, have been retained. Andrew Morrow’s prominent “Love” and “War” murals are featured that pay homage to the original King Cole mural commissioned by St. Regis founder John Jacob Astor IV for The St. Regis New York.
Interior design elements include new custom-designed chairs, sofas, rugs, art installations and lighting fixtures selected for their stylised clean lines and geometry. Hues of grey, silver, smoke blue, champagne, bronze, and black lacquer evoke the iconic fog that often clouds San Francisco.
The lobby design marks the first in a series of renovations and improvements planned by St. Regis San Francisco for 2013 and 2014.
