Swope Park gets a facelift

Swope Park in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, US is undergoing a renovation of its facilities, which will also add a new Dollar General store at the corner of the park.
The project includes renovating the entrance to the pool, the shelter houses and the entryway, installing all-new playground equipment by the Lions Club, and construction of a new concession stand and shower house combination. Native stone is being used on the entryway and the shelter houses.
The pool is also being remodeled. The old concrete and decking has been removed. The new underwater lights and electrical system have been installed as well as above-ground lights, lifeguard stands and diving boards are also installed. The pool has been sandblasted down to the concrete and new epoxy and tiles will be installed and the pool will be painted.
Mike Swartz, the mayor of the Cottonwood Falls, said that new lighting in and around the pool will allow the pool to be open at night. About $66,000 is being spent to renovate the pool.
