Tower General tops out new $24 million office building in California

US-based Tower General Contractors (TGC) has marked a construction milestone on new $24 million office building for the Laborer International Union of North America with the topping out ceremony of Construction Laborer's Local 300 headquarters in Los Angeles, California.

Located at 2005 W. Pico Boulevard at Westlake Boulevard in Los Angeles, the 82,000 square feet Union building will be a four-level building, which will consist of two-above ground levels and two-underground levels of parking area.
The project will include a host of green features, which will enable it to earn LEED certification. The green elements of the development will consist of a storm drainage system that will filter and detail storm water runoff, and light pollution guidelines-adhering exterior lighting.
The design of the building will maximise day lighting and view opportunities. The building will have an energy-efficient envelope, which will enable it to optimise its energy performance. The new Union building will feature energy-efficient HVAC systems, which will cutback energy consumption by almost 60%.
Committed to the design and construction of sustainable green building practices, the company plans to recycle at least 75% of the construction materials, demolition waste and land clearing debris and use the salvaged or refurbished materials in the building.
Further sustainability will be achieved by using almost 50% of the construction material manufactured within 500 miles of the building.
