Warren-Newport Public Library reopens after upgrades

Published: 24-Jan-2012

The Warren-Newport Public Library in Gurnee, Illinois, US has reopened after an $8.7 million facelift.

The facility has been expanded by nearly 4500 square feet as part of the project and now covers a total area of 58,500 square feet. The library now features a dedicated area for teenagers known as the Vault. The teen zone, spanning 1400 square feet, features a host of computers, video gaming consoles, and a lounge space.

The remodelled building houses six group study rooms, a new roof, along with a meeting room encompassing 4000 square feet following the overhaul. It has now also been equipped with high-performance lighting fixtures running low on energy usage. Further, plans are on for installation of a sustainable rain garden by 2012 end.

The project had a duration of 14 months.
