The $34 million project was built on a 48-acre ‘greenfield’ site and incorporated a host of sustainable measures such as on-site solar energy generation; efficient HVAC, lighting systems and building insulation, resulting in a 27.7% reduction in energy consumption compared to energy code; 33% reduction in water consumption; filtration for improved air quality and low VOC used in building materials.

The school also incorporated 21.9% of building materials made from recycled content, with 24.27% coming from local suppliers. About 77% of the construction waste was recycled.

The school also won USGBC's North Florida Innovation in New Construction Award and the Excellence in Construction Eagle Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors earlier.
