Wilmington International Airport to build new rental car maintenance facility

Published: 22-Feb-2013

Wilmington International Airport in North Carolina, US is planning to build a new rental car service maintenance facility with an investment of $4.5 million.

Located at Hall Drive and Blue Clay Road in Wilmington, the new rental car service maintenance facility would make it easier for cars to be delivered. As it is not based in the primary centre of business park endeavour, it will free up the current space.

The new facility will used to clean cars as well as perform routine maintenance after they are returned. Construction is due to begin in May 2013, while the project will be completed by the end of December 2013.

Car rental firms are currently using a facility near the airport’s customs facility for maintenance. Airport officials added that there are also plans for the current rental car facility to be used for housing an airplane service company after the new facility is completed.

The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners voted to borrow $4.5 million on the airport's behalf.
